Online Poker Bluffing

Posted 22 October 2011 | Online Poker,Poker Strategy

The game of online poker or even live poker is about coming out on top and making a profit, but in a small way it is also about losing. Usually when losing, a player is easily deceived. Bluffing at the game of poker is typical. Isn’t the reason that a player bluffs quite obvious: you want to deceive the other players at your table, you want them to believe that you have a better hand than you actually do, and an even better hand than they are holding. For your bluff to work, you need to essentially manipulate the others into thinking that you have the nuts. Bluffing is something inexperienced players love to do and they do it as often as they possibly could. That is exactly the first step on the journey to bankruptcy.

The effectiveness of a bluff as you will as you will realize after reading this poker blog, is from time to time increased by a situation and it is closely linked to the goods you have about the players at your table. It’s easier said than done to give you exact circumstances when bluffing would work, due to the fact that bluffing relies on people’s reactions and more often than not people are unpredictable.

There are some situations that beg for a bluff when playing online poker

Playing online poker against a small number of opponents

It is as a matter of fact quite straightforward, it is easy to trick a fewer number of people as you know. The odds tell us that the chances for a good hand are low and you can go ahead and bluff when playing with a small number of online poker players, but an experienced player will know that you can bluff in these situations, so they might end up calling you right till the end.

Playing with tight players.

A tight player understands what good pre-flop hands are, so a tight player will not often wait for the flop and fold a lot. Once on the flop, a tight online poker player usually only plays extremely strong hands to the river and will not call unless he has an open ended straight or flush draw. If you have bluffed early and the other players are still calling you, then it is likely that they actually do have something and maybe its time for you to stop bluffing because they can stick to their guns.

When the river is on the table

You can bluff on the river because the players that really have bad hands or mediocre hands will definitely fold here; there is no chance whatsoever for their hands to be improved. If you happened to get this far in the online poker game sans bluffing you most likely have something, like an Ace or a low pair, the deal you are about to pull off is not really bluffing , its semi bluffing.

When all online poker players at your table have checked

When everyone has checked, that’s when you know that nobody there is holding anything great. Be very careful here because some may call, but most will probably fold. This is where you need to go ahead and make your bluff a little persistent by betting and raising bets time and again, because this bluff is quite well known and some online poker players may be expecting it.
